FREE PATTERN - Hooded Cowl

Please feel free to use my pattern to make this wonderfully warm and soft hooded cowl.  Please do not sell it as your own or reproduce it as your own.  Any similarities to other patterns is purely coincidental.  Thank You!!!

Materials:

Lion Brand Hometown USA yarn – 4 skeins
Size N hook
2 Buttons at least 1” around

Hood Pattern:

Chain 46

Row 1:
HDC in second chain from hook and in each chain across (45 HDC).  Chain 1, turn.

Row 2
HDC in each stitch across (45 HDC). Chain 1, turn.

Row 3 – 15
Repeat row 2

Fasten off

Fold in half and stitch along the long side starting at the open end.  It is best to use the chain edge for this part.  I used a single crochet to stitch together but a whip stitch or slip stitch would work as well.  This is the hood.

Turn the hood inside out so the right side is facing.

Cowl Pattern:

Join yarn at the bottom corner at the open edge.

Row 1:
HDC evenly along the bottom of the hood, approximately 40 stitches.  Chain 1, turn.

Row 2 - 8:
HDC in each stitch across (40 HDC). Chain 1, turn.

Row 9:
HDC in each stitch across.  At the corner, HDC 2 more times and continue around the front of the hood in what was row 15 of the hood pattern.  At the opposite edge of the cowl, evenly space two button loops (chain stitches depending upon the size of your button) along the edge of the 9 rows.  Fasten Off.

Weave in ends.  Attach buttons to line up with the loops.
